I met Gabriel Pérez-Barreiro at the Americas Society in New York City about ten years ago, where we were both working as a part of the Culture Program; he was the Director of the Visual Arts Program and I was Editorial Assistant for the journal Review. Since his position at the Americas Society, Gabriel has been Curator at the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, Chief Curator of the Sixth Edition of the Mercosul Biennial and currently Director of the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection in New York.

Since DaWire's inception, an essential component of the project has been the creation of a forum where issues relevant to curatorship could be discussed. With this idea in mind, I interviewed Gabriel on curating, Latin American art and other tricky topics.[...]

As a part of a series of interviews with curators and museographers, Alejandro Sordo Guzmán, our Contributing Writer in Mexico City, interviews renowned museographer Ery Cámara, one of the main specialists in the field. Their dialogue sheds light on the role of the museum in society and the importance of the public in the development of its programs. To borrow Ery's words, "museums are unfinished institutions," and a dialogue between audiences and these institutions must be established for them to grow and continue to adapt to our needs.[...]

For the fifth edition of CIRCA, Artistic Director Celina Nogueras invited renowned curator, gallerist and artist Pablo León de la Barra to conceptualize the CIRCA Labs. Now in its third consecutive edition, the labs presented a completely different concept from previous ones, bringing young galleries from Latin America that offered viewers a quick glance of contemporary artistic production from countries such as Guatemala, Panama and Peru.[...]

Living between Old San Juan and Paris, it is unusual to find the artist Victor Vázquez around the streets of Old San Juan. When in San Juan, he spends most of his time at his studio; thinking, musing and creating. Victor welcomed me to his studio at San Sebastian street, to talk about his career as an artist, his work and his upcoming show at Seraphin Gallery.[...]

The work by Aggtelek (Gema Perales and Xandro Vallés, 1978, Barcelona) proposes new ways of looking at sculpture by exploring and playing with the creative process in a very dynamic way. In their videos, their artwork manifests itself as a direct result of the structural development of their performances, creating narratives that question the traditional notions related to sculpture by means of constructing and deconstructing ephemeral objects and scenarios.[...]
