Matt Connors
Matt Connor’s paintings are much more than abstractions, they possess a found object quality. A piece such as Backgammon, combine a stretcher, a roll of found material and a hand-brushed application of Gesso, resulting in an enigmatic monochrome that oscillates between painting and sculpture. In other works, he provokes emotional and instinctive responses from the viewer, while opening the door to a wide range of possibilities and meanings.
Matt Connors holds an MFA from the Yale University School of Art. He has had solo shows in Cherry and Martin Gallery Lüttgenmeijer, Berlin, The Breeder, Athens and CANADA, New York; group shows in Praz-Delavallade, Galerie Martin Janda and Kavi Gupta Gallery. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
