Vincent Lafrance

Inspired by many ideas at once, Vincent Lafrance constructs multiple bodies of work simultaneously using primarily video and photography. This eclectic method, once considered conceptually uncomfortable, has resulted in a body of work that is both polymorphic and discontinuous. Lafrance comments how “the projects are unique unto themselves and vary greatly from one to another. They have distinct needs, which dictate the necessary tools and working strategy. However, the projects differ in content, form and method. They are linked by the presence of the same underlying ironic tone.”
Vincent Lafrance was born in 1978, in Saint Jean sur Richelieu, Canada. Lives and work in Montréal, Canada. He graduated from Concordia University, Montreal, in 2005 where he completed a BFA in photography. Lafrance has participated in numerous exhibition in Canada, Mexico and Germany and recently was awarded a residency at BBB art center in Toulouse with the program Pepinière européennes pour jeunes artistes in 2009. He is represented by Divion Gallery in Montreal.
