Manuel Rodriguez

From contemplation to an imagined utopic reality, Manuel Rodríguez’s work, through sculptures, installations and modified found objects and inventions, intends to reconcile possibilities with impossibilities. The idea of flight and of molding air are some of these improbable proposals. In his most recent work, he tackles ideas of gravity, energy, space and speed, referencing artists such as Brancusi and Panamarenko. Manuel maintains that his work “depends a great deal on the relationship between the linguistic and the visual, generated by the juxtaposition of my objects, always keeping the paradox of uselessness and the range of illusion.”

Manuel Rodríguez received a BFA from the Escuela de Artes Plásticas (EAP), San Juan, Puerto Rico. His most recent solo show was  titled  Alaire, in #610 Hipódromo Street, a space run by Charles Juhasz in Santurce, Puerto Rico.
