Painting for a Specific Floor is a collaborative work that explores the ideas of horizontality and fluidity, as well as surfaces and topography. The work defies the preconception of the work of art as an object meant solely to be looked at. It also challenges the supremacy of the visual sense over other senses, betting on a direct experience with the work; an encounter between the spectator and the work, the piece and the place it inhabits.

The book documents Andrés Mignucci’s and María de Mater O’Neill’s collaborative work which began in August 2007 and culminated in November 9 2008 at CASAPOLI, an artist residency in Chile.

María de Mater O’Neill was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1960. She received her B.F.A. from Cooper Union, NYC in 1984.

Andrés Mignucci studied architecture at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) receiving a Masters of Architecture in 1982.
