Humor is an essential component of Roberto Márquez’s work, as it allows him to poke fun at the imagined and exaggerated notions of the male self. Through colorful drawings and paintings, Márquez slaps you in the face with a visual narrative charged with a good dose of macho man testosterone, mixed with an unexpected playfulness. Much like a stand up comedian, Márquez delivers a punch-line that wins you over with his amusing characters, and witty scenarios.

Roberto Marquez received a BFA from the Escuela de Artes Plásticas (EAP) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was selected for the 2009 Luis Adelantado Gallery International Call for Young Artists.
